Earlier this year I was interviewed by a wonderful man by the name of Karl, of The Dialogue Project.  My interview was one of a series of 5 Intimate Conversations recorded for the Latitude Festival in Suffolk, UK, in July of this year.

The topic of conversation this year was about sex.  And my interview, in particular, was talking about what it’s like to be raped at 14 years of age and how it has affected my life since.

Karl normally records conversations and edits them down to approximately 20 minutes.  However, with mine, he couldn’t. My story is one that doesn’t really “fit” into a 20 minute time-slot, hence he has edited the whole conversation into Chapters, entitled Why Not Me?

There are four parts, and you can listen to each of them by clicking the links below.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Part 4

So far, the interview has recently an overwhelming response, worldwide.  Many survivors of rape have contacted us both to say that the interview has really touched them and, more importantly, helped them.

It is not easy subject matter.  At times, the audio is very difficult to listen to.  But it IS a story of hope, of survival, of finding joy.

Please have a listen.  Pour yourself a tea or coffee, get your headphones and plug yourself in to a very human experience…

A dialogue.

Time Waits for No Mother…

February 12, 2010

A new blog post on Splintered Reflections about an age-old problem.  Do we women simply want TOO much?

Whilst pondering this, take a look at my new poem about a very real phobia, entitled Pagophobia

New article on Splintered Reflections.  Afraid to take a good, long look at yourself?  Find out why…

Christmas is a difficult time.  Look beyond the twinkling lights, the words in Christmas cards, the carefully-laid tables…..every scene conceals family history and often, things that are not easily forgotten.  I hope you enjoy my new poem, entitled Wounds on Splintered Reflections.  I am looking towards the New Year in the hope of wiping my slate clean.
